Dress For Success

  Attire
  • Select clothing appropriate for the occupation.  The goal is to look the part.  A good standard is to dress one step above what you would wear on the job
  • Clothes should be clean and pressed
  • Frayed cuffs, missing buttons, and scuffed shoes will make a bad impression
  • Avoid faddish styles and loud colors
  • Jewelry should be conservative and kept to a minimum

Grooming

  • Hair - Clean, trimmed and neatly combed/arranged
  • Facial Hair (men only) - Freshly shaved; mustache or beard neatly trimmed
  • Body - Freshly bathed/showered; use deodorant
  • Teeth - Brushed and fresh breath
  • Fingernails - Clean, smooth and well groomed
  • Make-up (women only) - Use sparingly, look natural
  • Perfumes/colognes - Use sparingly or not at all.  Your "fragrance" should not linger after you leave
  • The clothes you wear affect your attitude and confidence levels.  People who take time to dress for success tend to feel good about themselves.
