Workforce Wednesdays

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is the nation’s workforce development program, designed to focus on the needs of employers and local job markets. Mississippi has four local workforce development areas, each guided by a Local Workforce Development Board made up primarily of business leaders.

Support for All Workers: Offers tailored services for job seekers of all backgrounds

Priority Training Focus: Equips workers with skills for high-demand jobs in today’s and tomorrow’s Mississippi labor markets as listed in Accelerate MS’s Priority Occupations

Employer Engagement: Builds strong partnerships between businesses, education, and workforce organizations to meet local talent demands

Youth Empowerment: creates pathways for young people to lead the workforce of the future
