Mississippi is a state that champions hard work, a friendly business environment, and economic growth.

As 2025 unfolds, the Magnolia State’s economy is firing on all cylinders, setting new benchmarks for prosperity. Seasonally adjusted data tells a compelling story: Mississippi’s estimated nonfarm employment has soared to an all-time high of 1,199,300 jobs.

Meanwhile, the Civilian Labor Force stands at an impressive 1,287,700—its strongest showing in 12 years, dating back to 2013.

Even more remarkable, the number of employed Mississippians has reached its highest level in nearly two decades, with 1,240,833 workers in January 2025, edging closer to the historic peak of 1,242,375 set in April 2004. Mississippi’s economic momentum is undeniable, fueling opportunities and reinforcing its status as an emerging powerhouse for job growth.

The past four years have ushered in a wave of economic development throughout, delivering record-breaking capital investments and job creation across Mississippi.

These transformative projects are fueling a resurgence in workforce engagement, as reflected in the state’s Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) of 55.9% in January 2025. Mississippi’s LFPR has climbed to its highest level since March 2020 (LFPR: 55.9%)—the month the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the global economy.

This upward trend is more than a statistic; it’s a testament to Governor Tate Reeves’ winning economic development record, Mississippi’s businesses, a workforce that’s growing stronger, more engaged, and ready to drive Mississippi’s economic momentum to unprecedented heights.
