Thirteen WIN Job Center Closing
May 30, 2013
JACKSON, Miss. — Six full-time and seven part-time WIN Job Centers will stop providing services June 21, 2013, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced today. In addition, the Iuka and Newton WIN Job Centers are slated to begin operating on a part-time basis. These closures are necessary because the state agency receives all of its operating budget from the U. S. Department of Labor and is facing major cuts in funding.
“These reductions in federal funds forced us to make some tough decisions,” said Mark Henry, MDES Executive Director. “We are working to ensure that MDES will continue helping Mississippians find jobs and also meet the challenge of budget cuts.”
Despite the reduction in funding, MDES will continue to provide services to people looking for good jobs and to businesses looking for qualified workers.
