Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced today that the Philadelphia WIN Job Center will open tomorrow, July 23, in its new location at 1016 Saxon Airport Road, Philadelphia. The center will provide services each week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We’re pleased with this new partnership with the local entities in Neshoba County who are providing funding so that we can operate the Philadelphia WIN Job Center on a part-time basis,” said Mark Henry, MDES Executive Director. “Helping Mississippians get jobs is a team effort and we applaud the local leadership for making this investment that allows us to maintain a presence in the community.”

State Representative C. Scott Bounds stated, "The retention of the WIN Job Center in Neshoba County is vitally important to our workforce in having a resource to seek employment. I am grateful to the County and City officials, East Central Community College and the Community Development Partnership in their collaborative efforts to assist us in retaining the Center here. I especially want to thank Mark Henry, Executive Director of the MDES, and his staff for assisting us at the state level to maintain a center here in Neshoba County. The WIN Centers are a valuable tool to employers across the state when in need of individuals in search of employment opportunities".

“I appreciate the Mississippi Department of Employment Security being so cooperative with our local officials and working with them in a manner that allows the Neshoba County WIN Center to remain open, even though it is on a limited basis.  It’s somewhat ironic that these entities were able to work out a “WIN/WIN” solution for our important WIN Center in Philadelphia,” said State Senator Giles Ward.

Through the WIN Job Centers, two call centers, and the department’s website, MDES provides convenient, one-stop services to businesses looking for skilled qualified workers and to people looking for good jobs.

The agency also assists individuals with job training so that they will be better prepared for work.  In addition, the department pays unemployment compensation to Mississippians who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
