JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced today that the Newton WIN Job Center, previously scheduled to close, has been changed from a full-time center to a part-time one. The center will be open on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the same location.

“We’re pleased that our new partnership with the City of Newton provides funding so that we can operate the Newton WIN Job Center on a part-time basis,” said Mark Henry, MDES Executive Director. “Helping Mississippians get jobs is a team effort and we applaud the local leadership for making this investment that allows us to maintain a presence in the community.”

Through the WIN Job Centers, two call centers, and the department’s website, MDES provides convenient, one-stop services to businesses looking for skilled qualified workers and to people looking for good jobs.

The agency also assists individuals with job training so that they will be better prepared for work.  In addition, the department pays unemployment compensation to Mississippians who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
