JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Employment Security today announced the Emergency Unemployment Compensation 2008, EUC08, program will end Dec. 28, 2013.  The program is paid with federal funds not state funds and must be approved by Congress.  To date, no plans have been made to continue the program past the week ending Dec. 28, 2013.

If Congress passes legislation extending the EUC08 program, MDES will notify eligible participants.

Clients can continue their work search efforts by visiting the MDES website at mdes.ms.gov.  MDES recently enhanced the job search and job matching features on its website, which provides better opportunities for people searching the database to compare open positions with their skills.
