Annual Labor Force

Annual Labor Force

Monthly publication providing labor force (residence based) data; published for the State, Counties, MSAs, and other areas.

NOTE: Effective January 2025, the counties included in two Metropolitan Statistical Areas have changed. Jackson MSA now includes Holmes and Scott counties. Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula MSA now includes Stone County, and the name has changed to Gulfport-Biloxi MSA. The MSA data has been updated to reflect these changes. The changes are due to the Bureau of Labor Statistics updating the areas to reflect delineations based on the 2020 Census, as published in OMB Bulletin No. 23-01.

Annually at this time of year work is performed to revise labor force estimates from previous years, called benchmarking. It should be noted that at any level other than statewide, January 2025 labor force data are NOT strictly comparable with the 2024 or any prior year data. Revised data for years prior to 2025 should be released in time for the February or March 2025 estimates. At that time, comparison of data across years prior to 2025 will be available and previous years links will be active.
